Turtle Point at Kiawah Island:

The Seaside Holes; 14, 15 and 16.

Kiawah Island Resort has become famous in large part because of the Ocean Course hosting the 1991 Ryder Cup and most recently the 2012 PGA Championship. However there are 4 other notable designs all part of this vast seaside resort near Charleston. Turtle Point is an early Nicklaus design opened in 1981, featuring minimal change in elevation, the heavily treed corridors, surrounded by homes and expansive ponds, make this a strong, strategic test of your game.

Description: To this point in the round the layout features trees, ponds and seclusion. The routing of the course takes a remarkable turn after the 13th green. The path leads not only to the next tee but to the miles of spectacular beach that graces the coast. Gone are the stately oaks and pines, replaced by a framing of palmettos, windswept dunes and magnificent home sites. Hole 14, a devilish par 3, plays through a chute of scrub to a partially blind green. The 15th, a stern par 4, leaves little room for error into this narrow green-site framed left by massive dunes and an expansive bunker on the right. Hole 16 is a par 3 guarded by a large bunker and dunes and exposed to swirling winds. If the wind is blowing off the Atlantic this stretch of holes will test every part of your game.
