Slammer & Squire:

A Wonderous Florida Resort Golf Experience.

A couple exits south of Jacksonville on I95 is The World Golf Village, a sprawling tribute to everything golf. The facility includes an on-site course designed by Bobby Weed, with consultation from golf legends Gene Sarazin and Sam Snead, The Slammer and Squire. This grand resort style layout is designed with vast fairways, tricky greens and as much challenge as your game can handle. With five sets of tees this layout is a terrific blend of length, distance and shot control, as well as a solid test with the flat stick. Steps from the remarkable World Golf Hall of Fame and the massive tower housing some of golf’s greatest trophies, the course flows over a rolling landscape framed by ponds and southern pines presenting generous driving areas but forcing good shots into the green sites. Designed with many memorable holes, the serious shotmaker will be tested early in the round by a four hole stretch that challenges all parts of your game.

Feature Holes Descriptions:

The shotmakers stretch begins at Hole 4, as you drive under the bridge you crossed to enter the facility. A meandering Par 5 awaits. A double dogleg with water right off the tee and left of the raised green site, navigating your way to the putting surface is only half the challenge, with the large sloped green amply protecting the hole. The fifth hole is a "thread the neddle" drive with water down the entire left side of the hole with mounds and forest messing with anything hit right off the tee. Hole 6 is an up and down slinging Par 4 dogleg right that is all about risk / reward. The blind tee shot to a raised fairway, or a tempting blast across the bunker guarding the corner....hummm. The second of the short holes plays to a heavily contoured, Redan-style green complex. Hitting the green doesn't guarantee a par at this beauty.
